What does this tool entail?
Van den Hout’s (2016) Team Flow Model is a framework that describes the conditions and experiential characteristics of team flow. The model distinguishes seven conditions (such as collective ambition, challenging team goal, etc.) and four experiential characteristics (such as sense of unity, sense of joint progress, etc.) that are essential for achieving the optimal state of collaboration in which team members become absorbed in their work, experience synergy, and achieve peak performance.
What does it do?
The model provides a structure for understanding what it takes to create and foster team flow. It helps teams consciously work on the specific conditions (prerequisites), such as aligning personal goals, integrating high skills, and creating a safe environment. By implementing these conditions, teams can increase the likelihood of achieving the experiential characteristics of team flow.
What does it provide?
The Team Flow Model provides a clear structure and concrete tools to improve cooperation within teams. This leads to increased performance, more creativity and innovation, and more job satisfaction and engagement among team members. By applying the model, teams can optimize their cooperation and deliver top performance.
